Job Summary:

Reunion Assistants (RAs) will serve on a team of 10-15 student leaders assisting Alumni and Parent Programs with Alumni Weekend on June 19-25, 2018. Any interested first years, sophomores, or juniors are encouraged to apply. Campus housing is not provided for Reunion Assistants.

We are specifically looking for a student to lead a hike to Tryon and do campus tours. For some tours like the Social Justice tour and Sustainability tour, some training is needed and provided.
• Become an expert on the Alumni Weekend schedule of events so you can help guests navigate the weekend.

In addition to the tours and hikes, they may be needed to help in other aspects of Alumni Weekend.
• Support the staff of Alumni & Parent Programs to alleviate workload during Alumni Weekend.
• Be familiar and able to explain how to use the L&C Guide event app.
• Provide administrative support to Alumni & Parent Programs, including designing and printing signs and posters, working on mailings, and helping with registration.
• Welcome, check in, and assist alumni as they arrive on campus, move into housing, and attend events.
• Encourage alumni to make a gift to Lewis & Clark, educate them on the importance of alumni giving and the Annual Fund.
• Provide excellent customer service to ALumni Weekend guests and direct alumni, if needed, to appropriate staff and resources.
• Assist with events and projects.


• Friendly, outgoing; will be expected to be comfortable interacting with alumni, L&C guests of varying ages, faculty, staff, and friends of the college.
• Efficient, detail oriented, & quick/creative thinker: Able to be given a task and complete it within a timely manner. At times, a task may be assigned that requires creativity, while other tasks are clearly outlined.
• Timely: RA’s often have a tight schedule. You must be on time to all meetings and assigned tasks.
• Initiative: Be able to create and execute solutions to problems as they arise.
• Effective Communicator.
• Clearance to drive college vehicles or willingness to get cleared is preferred.

Experience/Skills Gained:

Reunion Assistants have the opportunity to be part of the biggest event that has ever happened on the Lewis & Clark campus as we celebrate the school’s sesquicentennial. Reunion Assistants will gain valuable experience in the running of large-scale events, communicating with alumni, event planning, and customer service. Assistants will have a chance to work with LC alumni, faculty, and staff. Working within the office of Alumni & Parent Programs will help the student learn how to work in a dynamic environment and gain understanding of the college’s organization and work with the college’s many constituencies.

Work Schedule Summary:

•Orientation: Tuesday April 18, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (1 hr mandatory)
•Training June18 or 19: Final Team Meeting, Training, and Work Party before Alumni Weekend, (2-3 hrs mandatory)
•Office assistance: Weekdays in mid-June (4-16 hrs optional)
•Additional reunion hours: Tuesday, June 19th, Wednesday, June 20th, Thursday, June 21st, Friday June 22nd, Saturday June 23rd, Sunday June 24th, Monday June 25, Tuesday June 26th.
•Alumni Weekend, Wednesday-Sunday, June 20-24 (15-25 hrs mandatory):
-Thursday, June 21st (possible 4 hour shift in the evening)
-Friday, June 22nd (4-8 hr shifts)
-Saturday, June 23rd (8-12 hr shifts)
-Sunday, June 24th (4-8 hr shifts)
•Tuesday, June 26th: Debrief and Party, (1-2 hrs mandatory)
If you cannot attend a mandatory meeting or shift, please note it in your application. It will not automatically disqualify you from being accepted, but may guide our decision in when to schedule the team training and other team activities. Case-by-case exceptions may be made for students not able to do a mandatory shift day.
